In the framework of iSAGE work plan, ATAUNI recently applied an innovation in a Romanov sheep farm in Cerkezkoy, Istanbul. The introduced innovation tested the estrus synchronization protocol in a prolific sheep flock.Controlling reproduction using the estrus synchronization protocol will allow to manage the lambing period and reduce lamb mortality. Romanov sheep consistently having a litter size of more than two lambs will be mated in groups to enable sufficient labor for lambing time. Moreover, terminal sires of Suffolk crossbred rams (Suforom) will be used to compare lamb growth rate with pure Romanov lambs.
